About us

Harrogate Saltire Scottish Country Dance Club

The Club was first formed in 1982. Its aim is to promote the enjoyment of Scottish Country Dancing to as many people as possible. We are always welcoming to new people, young and old, who want to come along and try Scottish Country Dancing.

Club nights are an informal affair where the aim is to learn to dance and to improve on technique but at the same time to have fun! There is a lively social side to the Club. At each weekly club night we have a break for refreshment and plenty of opportunity to socialise.

We run 3 main dancing events in the year attended by our members and other clubs. We organise a trip to a play at the Harrogate Theatre, with a meal beforehand. There is also a Summer walk in June.

There are many dances held by other clubs around Yorkshire and further afield; if you are really keen you could be dancing every weekend as well!!

If you would like more information or to come along to meet us and try out the dancing, then please contact our Secretary whose number is shown on the contacts page.

There is no fee for the first evening you attend.

(See events page for dates of dances)

We normally meet on a Wednesday evening at Brackenfield School 128 Duchy Road Harrogate HG1 2HE. However due to problems with the hall floor we have had to temporarily relocate to St Wilfreds church hall, Duchy Road, Harrogate. HG1 2EY. We arrive from 7.30pm and aim to start dancing by 7.45pm.  A link to the location of the church hall is below.

We expect to return to Brackenfield soon but will continue to dance at St Wilfreds until further notice. Please check this website for updates.

If you are new to Scottish Country dancing, a phone call to let us know you plan to come is very helpful as the teacher can tailor the evening to suit new dancers. There is no fee for the first evening you attend.

Any dancers visiting the area from other clubs in the UK or from abroad are very welcome to come along on a Wednesday night to dance with us.
